Amreli District Congress president, Pratap Dudhat, criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat, suggesting that more political turmoil may follow after farmer leader Raju Karpada’s resignation. Dudhat expressed concerns that AAP’s state president, Isudan Gadhvi, could be the next to face repercussions. He also accused AAP MLA Gopal Italia of planning to switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party, urging the public to be aware of this alleged political maneuvering.
The comments by Dudhat come amidst escalating political tensions within the AAP unit in Gujarat, marked by internal dissent and resignations. In response to the allegations, Gadhvi dismissed them as an effort to tarnish the party’s image, emphasizing their commitment to advocating for farmers and dismissing speculations about his political future.
The recent controversy stems from the resignation of Raju Karpada, a prominent farmer leader from Muli taluka in Surendranagar district. Following his departure from the party, Karpada made serious accusations against certain AAP leaders during a subsequent press conference. He claimed that some leaders had attempted to keep him in jail and failed to provide adequate legal support to farmers during his incarceration.
Karpada’s exit and his allegations have brought increased scrutiny to the internal operations of AAP’s Gujarat unit, with exchanges of statements between rival parties heightening political tensions in the region.
