India’s Anahat Singh is on the brink of making history by reaching the final of the World Squash Junior Championships, becoming the first Indian in 21 years to achieve this feat. In a high-quality semifinal match, she defeated Egypt’s Barb Sameh in four games, securing her place in the title match.
Singh, the top seed, showcased her skills by winning the opening game convincingly at 11-3. Although Sameh fought back to level the match with an 11-8 win in the second game, Singh responded strongly, dominating the last two games at 11-4 and 11-6. This victory not only advanced her to the final but also brought her closer to becoming the first Indian to win the World Junior crown.
Reflecting on her win, Singh expressed her happiness and determination, acknowledging the tough competition she faced. She highlighted the significance of reaching the final after previous attempts and emphasized that the tournament is not over yet.
In the men’s competition, Egypt’s top seed Mohamad Zakaria continued his quest for a third World Junior title by securing a spot in the final. He will face fellow Egyptian and second seed Adam Hawal, who advanced to the final after Marwan Assal retired injured during their semifinal match.
