India’s Ananya Narayanan fought back from a game down to defeat compatriot Janet Vidhi in four games, securing her spot in the second round of the women’s draw at the Squash PSA Challenger Tour-Chennai. After losing the first game 8-11, Ananya displayed strong attacking play in the next three games, winning 11-2, 11-8, and 11-5, sealing a remarkable comeback victory.
Pooja Arthi Raghu also advanced with a dominant performance, beating Mahak Talati 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 in a one-sided match. Anika Dubey joined her in the next round after a comfortable victory over Kriya Saravanan with scores of 11-4, 11-5, 11-4.
In other women’s matches, Scotland’s Lisa Aitken triumphed over Egypt’s Salma Othman in a hard-fought contest, securing victory with scores of 11-6, 11-7, 8-11, 14-12. South Korea’s Chaewon Song came from behind to defeat India’s Navya Sundararajan 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-5.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Rui Jean Yek won in straight games against Egypt’s Mona Tamer, while Thanusaa Uthrian from Malaysia overcame India’s Eesha Shrivastava 11-7, 11-6, 11-9. Egypt’s Hana Aladdin also advanced by defeating Vyomika Khandelwal 11-2, 13-11, 11-2.
In the men’s category, Sri Lanka’s Shamil Wakeel overcame Lokesh Subramani 8-11, 15-13, 11-9, 11-3 after trailing in the initial game. Egypt’s Youssef Teleb defeated Vedant Patel 11-9, 11-9, 11-4. Spain’s Hugo Jaen and Malaysia’s Harith Danial also secured wins in their matches.
India’s Diwakar Singh and Malaysia’s Wa Sern Low emerged victorious in their respective games. Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi won a five-game battle against Purav Rambhia, while Egypt’s Adham Roshdy closed the day with a straight-games victory over S. Palanivel Ravikumar.
