Amid reports of Tamil Nadu fishing boats allegedly trespassing in Andhra Pradesh’s waters, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the state’s ownership of the coastline and fishing rights. Addressing fishermen in SPSR Nellore district, he vowed to protect the coastal waters from encroachment by neighboring states.

Naidu assured farmers of stringent surveillance to prevent intrusions by boats from other states and announced financial aid of Rs 20,000 per fisherman’s family during the fishing ban period. The government has already disbursed Rs 262 crore to over 1.3 lakh fishermen families directly.

Highlighting the significance of the fisheries sector for livelihoods, Naidu pledged continued support to fishermen. He detailed initiatives such as diesel subsidies, construction of fishing harbors, and promoting new technologies like seaweed cultivation to enhance income opportunities for fisherfolk.
