Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed to expand the Sanjeevani project, aimed at creating digital health records, to cover the entire state by July. Currently operational in Kuppam and Naravaripalli in the Chittoor district, the project was discussed in a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s camp office. Officials have been tasked with conducting medical screenings for 56.40 lakh individuals across the state within the next year, with results to be shared via WhatsApp within 48 hours.
The implementation of the Sanjeevani project necessitates 904 Mobile Medical Units and an expenditure of Rs. 162 crores, a plan that received approval from the Chief Minister. With 3.14 lakh individuals already registered in the Sanjeevani Digital Nerve Centre database in the state, Naidu stressed the importance of regularly updating individual health records. He highlighted the significance of preventive healthcare services to reduce future medical costs, emphasizing practices like yoga, nutrition, meditation, and pranayama.
Naidu directed officials to develop the AP Health Management Policy, focusing on Matrutva (maternity care), Shakti (empowerment), Naipunyam (skill development), Kshema (well-being), and Sanjeevani (holistic health). Additionally, discussions were held on the forthcoming implementation of a Universal Health Policy across the state through the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, with several insurance companies expressing interest in collaboration. The Chief Minister urged collective efforts akin to a mass movement to enhance public health, calling for proactive engagement by MPs, MLAs, district Collectors, and medical officers starting in April.
In line with this, he instructed the organization of ‘Swarnandhra Population Management’ programs on the fourth Saturday of each month, including village assemblies, health camps, and awareness campaigns. The Chief Minister also addressed plans for constructing medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, emphasizing the need to promptly fill any vacancies within the Medical and Health Department through rationalization.
