Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged Telangana to refrain from politicizing river water sharing issues between the two states. He clarified that he has never opposed projects in Telangana and questioned the objection raised by Telangana over the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu emphasized the importance of utilizing surplus water efficiently, especially from the Polavaram project, to benefit both states. He highlighted the need for cooperation rather than competition among political leaders on water sharing matters, emphasizing unity among Telugu-speaking people.
The Chief Minister stressed the significance of interlinking rivers in India to combat drought and promote regional development. He mentioned the progress of the Polavaram project, stating that efforts are being made to complete Phase I works by March 2027 to facilitate water release.
Naidu also outlined the government’s initiatives to enhance irrigation facilities and promote agriculture in various regions through water diversion projects. He expressed his commitment to completing the Polavaram project and advocating for river interlinking projects nationwide.
