Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced plans to develop handicraft tourism similar to eco-tourism and temple tourism. He emphasized the importance of recognizing artisans who create artistic pieces and directed officials to create documentaries showcasing their struggles. Kalyan also pledged to establish common facility centers for artisans and ensure the preservation of handicrafts.
The ‘Andhra Pradesh Handicraft Festival 2026’ organized by the Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation featured works by renowned artisans from various regions. Kalyan personally interacted with artisans, commended their skills, and expressed support for their development. He visited stalls, purchased handicraft products, and encouraged artisans to excel in their craft.
During his visit, Kalyan showed interest in leather puppetry, Uppada sarees, and eco-friendly products made from banana fiber. He assured leather puppet artisans of support for showcasing their art during the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu. Additionally, he purchased sarees and garments, demonstrating his appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and eco-friendly products.
Kalyan’s initiatives aim to boost the handicraft sector in Andhra Pradesh and provide necessary support for artisans’ welfare and development.
