Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and state Minister Lokesh visited workers injured in an accident at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. They went to KIMS Icon Hospital to meet the injured and spoke with their families. Pawan Kalyan also talked to doctors to check on the injured workers’ conditions.
The Deputy CM assured the victims’ families that the government would cover medical expenses and provide support. Pawan Kalyan expressed sorrow over the accident at the steel plant, which resulted in the death of eight employees and injuries to six others. He announced compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 10 lakh for each injured worker.
Pawan Kalyan pledged to take preventive measures to avoid such accidents in the future. He emphasized the importance of investigating whether all safety protocols were followed by the management. The Deputy CM mentioned that a committee appointed by the Union Steel Ministry would submit a report for further action and stressed the need for a thorough investigation.
He reassured that the steel plant would remain in the public sector and promised to address the concerns of the plant’s employees. Pawan Kalyan highlighted the significance of safety audits in industries around Visakhapatnam to prevent industrial accidents. State Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar and Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivas Yadav accompanied Pawan Kalyan during his visit.
