Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan announced that red sanders smuggling has decreased by 70% in the past two years. He highlighted the government’s efforts in cracking down on smuggling activities, leading to a significant reduction in illegal trade. Kalyan, who also oversees Forests and Environment, praised the strict actions taken against individuals involved in smuggling operations.
Stringent measures are being enforced, with a focus on preventing the illegal transportation of red sandalwood across state borders. The government is intensifying its efforts to dismantle smuggling networks through enhanced coordination between states. Kalyan commended the Red Sandalwood Anti-Smuggling Task Force for successfully disrupting a smuggling gang’s activities in Anantapur district.
Emphasizing the importance of preventing red sanders smuggling, Kalyan directed authorities to ensure that the masterminds behind such criminal operations are held accountable. Recent operations by the anti-smuggling task force resulted in the seizure of 109 logs worth Rs 2 crore in Anantapur district. Officials are actively pursuing the main orchestrators of these smuggling activities for appropriate legal action.
Task force officials, under the leadership of RSI Muralidhar Reddy and SP Subbarayudu, conducted a successful operation near Bondalavada village in Narpala Mandal. The team, supervised by Red Sandalwood Anti-Smuggling Task Force SP P. Srinivas, is actively engaged in combating illegal red sanders trade.
