On World Environment Day, Andhra Pradesh marked the occasion by initiating the production and distribution of 2.5 crore seed balls to boost green cover and biodiversity. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan kickstarted the process at Butterfly Park in Mulapadu, NTR district. He actively participated in making seed balls, involving women, children, and the use of drones for dispersal.
The state’s Forest and Environment Department aims to raise the green cover to 50% by 2047, starting with the preparation of seed balls. These seed balls, made with native species like tamarind, neem, mango, and teak, were crafted at 300 locations across Andhra Pradesh. Pawan Kalyan oversaw the statewide program through a video conference, engaging with participants and emphasizing the importance of the initiative.
Pawan Kalyan encouraged public involvement in the seed ball preparation process, stressing the significance of environmental conservation. He directed officials to ensure the completion of 2.5 crore seed balls by June 15. Additionally, he highlighted the imperative need to protect nature and biodiversity for a sustainable future, urging citizens to embrace eco-friendly practices and contribute to a cleaner environment.
