The Andhra Pradesh police have filed an FIR against Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar based on accusations of sexual exploitation by a woman. The case was registered under specific sections of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a directive from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The woman, a government employee, claimed that the MLA exploited her for over a year under false promises of marriage and coerced her into multiple abortions.
The woman detailed instances where she was allegedly assaulted by the MLA after being taken to isolated locations in a car. She further stated that she underwent five abortions within a year and was subjected to threats and torture. In response, MLA Sridhar refuted the allegations, attributing them to false propaganda and manipulated videos. He appeared before a committee formed by Jana Sena to investigate the claims and expressed readiness to address the issue.
Sridhar emphasized the personal nature of the allegations and urged the media not to involve the party in the matter. The Jana Sena party, led by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, appointed a three-member panel to look into the accusations against the MLA. The committee was tasked with examining media reports regarding the allegations and instructed Sridhar to abstain from party activities until the investigation concludes.
