With coastal states taking the lead in the Blue Economy mission and industrial corridors propelling advanced manufacturing, Andhra Pradesh emerges as a crucial ally in India’s path towards Viksit Bharat 2047, as per Union Minister Jitendra Singh. The Union Budget 2026–27 solidifies this vision by emphasizing fisheries, marine exports, coastal infrastructure, and ocean-based economic activities for India’s long-term growth strategy. Minister Singh highlighted that amidst global economic uncertainties, India opts for stability, clarity, and sustained investment-led growth, as mentioned during an event in Vijayawada.
The decision to permit deep-sea fishing in India’s Exclusive Economic Zone and acknowledging fish landings at foreign ports as exports is expected to significantly increase fishermen’s income potential, Minister Singh pointed out. This policy shift not only bolsters food security but also enhances export competitiveness, positioning India firmly as a blue ocean nation. Minister Singh noted that Andhra Pradesh, with its extensive coastline and well-established aquaculture ecosystem, stands to benefit significantly from these initiatives.
Moreover, the modernization of reservoirs, fortification of coastal fisheries infrastructure, establishment of cold chain networks, and processing facilities will establish an integrated marine economy framework. Minister Singh drew a connection between the Blue Economy mission and the strategic industrial corridors being developed nationwide. In Andhra Pradesh, the Rare Earth and Critical Minerals Corridor is set to position the state at the forefront of next-generation manufacturing, renewable energy components, and advanced materials. Additionally, industrial corridors along the eastern coast will enhance logistics integration and elevate global supply chain involvement.
The development of specialized corridors, including advanced energy and mineral value chains, aligns with India’s maritime and export aspirations. The seamless economic architecture connecting coastlines to manufacturing hubs will be realized through the integration of ports, container manufacturing, rail connectivity, and industrial clusters, Minister Singh highlighted. He further emphasized that the Budget strikes a balance between productivity, resilience, and inclusivity, ensuring fiscal discipline while maintaining high levels of capital expenditure. Minister Singh underscored Andhra Pradesh’s significant role across fisheries, ports, industrial corridors, digital infrastructure, mineral value chains, and agricultural exports, positioning it as a central contributor to India’s growth narrative.
