Former India spinner Anil Kumble has advised the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team to not underestimate Zimbabwe in their upcoming Super 8 match. Despite India’s loss to South Africa, they aim to secure victories against West Indies and Zimbabwe to enhance their knockout chances. Kumble emphasized the need for India to maintain their aggressive style of play against Zimbabwe, acknowledging the African team’s strong performances, including victories against Australia and Sri Lanka.
Zimbabwe, previously unbeaten in the tournament, faced a setback with a significant loss to the Windies in their first Super 8 game, putting them at a disadvantage in net run-rate compared to India. To advance beyond the Super Eight stage, Zimbabwe must now defeat both India and South Africa convincingly. Kumble stressed that India should not take Zimbabwe lightly and must perform at their best, with each player taking responsibility for their contributions in the T20 World Cup without relying on others to deliver results.
