As the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balram, and Goddess Subhadra takes place at Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, numerous dancers expressed their joy in performing for the ‘Mahaprabhu’ amidst rainfall. One dancer described the experience as unique, emphasizing the divine feeling of dancing for the deities.
Despite the rain, performers eagerly awaited the deities’ appearance, believing that when Lord Jagannath emerges, it feels as if he himself is dancing. Another artist mentioned the miraculous atmosphere, attributing the rain to the blessings of Lord Indra in anticipation of Lord Jagannath’s arrival.
The dancers expressed their excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to have a ‘darshan’ of Lord Jagannath, considering it a great fortune to perform before the deity. They highlighted their willingness to dance in the rain as a gesture of love and devotion towards Lord Jagannath.
Acknowledging the unique experience of performing in such weather, the dancers emphasized their dedication to offering their art as a humble service to Lord Jagannath. Meanwhile, inside the temple, rituals preceding the Rath Yatra procession are in progress, with preparations being expedited to fulfill Lord Jagannath’s wish of granting darshan to devotees.
