The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-34 organized by the Assam Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Guwahati successfully wrapped up at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Nalbari. Around 520 NCC cadets, both boys and girls from Senior and Junior Divisions representing schools and colleges from Guwahati, Nalbari, Rangia, and Tamulpur, participated in the 10-day camp held from May 23 to June 1.
The camp focused on providing basic military training, fostering leadership qualities, discipline, character building, and instilling a spirit of selfless service among the youth. Cadets engaged in intensive sessions covering drill, weapon handling, map reading, and firing practice during the camp. Additionally, special lectures on leadership, national integration, and social service were conducted to raise awareness among the cadets on contemporary issues.
Career guidance sessions were a part of the camp, where officials from the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) Narangi interacted with cadets, informing them about career opportunities in the armed forces. Faculty members from Assam Skill University also conducted sessions guiding cadets on skill development and future career prospects.
A significant moment during the camp was the visit of Brigadier NC Khuman, Group Commander of NCC Guwahati Group, on May 27. Brigadier Khuman emphasized the pivotal role played by the National Cadet Corps in molding disciplined, responsible, and patriotic citizens. He encouraged cadets to make positive contributions to society and nation-building efforts. The camp concluded with a ceremonial closing function presided over by the Camp Commandant.
Outstanding cadets, as well as winning schools and colleges, were honored for their exceptional performances in various training and competitive events held during CATC-34. The successful completion of the camp signifies a crucial step in nurturing future leaders and responsible citizens through the value-based training provided by the NCC under the Guwahati Group of the NER Directorate.
