Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, recently met with Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu to address concerns related to the Capital. The meeting, held at Lok Niwas, focused on various issues affecting the region.
During the interaction, Sandhu emphasized the need for expedited repairs of piping, gutters, and storage tanks, particularly emphasizing rainwater harvesting structures in government schools and buildings. He directed officials from civic agencies to ensure timely completion of these repairs before the onset of the monsoon season.
Furthermore, Sandhu instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive assessment of all existing rainwater harvesting systems in Delhi to establish a strong foundation for future planning and water conservation efforts. This initiative aims to enhance groundwater recharge and promote long-term sustainability in water management.
In a separate development, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to revive and operationalize rainwater harvesting systems in 75 schools across the capital. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the annual rainwater harvesting capacity, creating a positive impact on water conservation efforts.
