In Vaishali district, Bihar, armed robbers targeted a jewellery shop owner’s house, stealing over 50 grams of gold ornaments and cash in a daring midnight heist. The incident occurred in Khanpur village under the Mahnar police station’s jurisdiction around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, as per police officials. The robbers breached the house’s boundary wall, belonging to Ranjit Kumar Shah, and entered by cutting the main gate while the family raised an alarm.
The family members and neighbors refrained from confronting the armed robbers, who detonated a crude bomb to intimidate and prevent resistance. The robbers spent nearly half an hour inside the house, thoroughly searching for valuables and cash before fleeing. Despite immediate notification to the local police, officers arrived at the scene around 3 a.m., after the robbers had escaped, as reported by Ranjit Shah.
Ranjit Shah recounted the attack, mentioning that the robbers used ladders to access the rooftop, assaulted the family, and looted gold and cash after breaking in. His son sustained injuries during the incident. Praveen Kumar, the SDPO of Mahnar, confirmed the robbery and stated that forensic teams and district police are investigating the case, analyzing CCTV footage for clues. The DVR left behind by the robbers is expected to aid in the investigation, leading to the apprehension of the culprits soon.
