The Indian Air Force helicopters are actively engaged in aerial firefighting missions in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. In Walong, Arunachal Pradesh, water drops have effectively put out the fire, while in Nagaland’s Dzukou Valley, helicopters are battling fires near Japfu Peak. Army troops, along with IAF helicopters, are striving to control a massive forest fire in the remote Walong area of Arunachal Pradesh.
Videos shared by the Army show helicopters dousing flames with water and deploying firefighting equipment to support ground teams. Dry weather and traditional cultivation methods are cited as main causes of forest fires in the Northeast. Coordinated efforts involving manpower, specialized equipment, and aerial support are ongoing to fully extinguish the fires under challenging conditions.
The combined efforts of the Army and IAF have been instrumental in preventing further spread of the fires. Continuous aerial support in remote areas with limited ground access is crucial. Authorities are maintaining vigilance to contain any new flare-ups and protect the forested areas from the persistent dry conditions in the region.
