Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth visited the Eastern Command and assessed the readiness of the Tezpur-based IV Corps, also known as the Gajraj Corps. Gen Seth inspected the XXXIII Corps in Sukna and the III Corps in Dimapur over the past two days. The Gajraj Corps, responsible for safeguarding Assam and parts of Arunachal Pradesh, briefed Gen Seth on security status and operational initiatives.
The Gajraj Corps, consisting of three Mountain Divisions, plays a crucial role in maintaining peace in the region. Gen Seth was briefed on the Corps’ collaboration with civil authorities and Central Armed Police Forces for community programs and developmental projects. He praised the Corps for its efforts in ensuring internal security and responding effectively to disasters in Assam and Meghalaya.
During his visit, Gen Seth interacted with troops, appreciating their dedication and professionalism. He highlighted the Corps’ use of modern technology like drones and participation in joint exercises with the Indian Air Force. Emphasizing the need for preparedness in the face of evolving security challenges, Gen Seth urged all ranks to stay focused on their mission and enhance operational capabilities through innovation.
