GOCs of the Army’s White Knight Corps and Cross Swords Division recently inspected the Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir’s Jammu district. The visit aimed to assess operational readiness and the current security status. The focus was on evaluating counter-infiltration strategies, incorporating advanced equipment, and enhancing overall operational coordination.
The GOCs praised the formation for adopting new technologies and urged all personnel to maintain a strong, flexible, and responsive counter-infiltration stance. The Army secures the 740-km-long Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir, spanning various districts in the region. Its primary mission includes thwarting infiltration, smuggling, and drone activities orchestrated by terror groups with external support.
In addition to preventing infiltration, the Army also combats smuggling, exfiltration, and drone incursions facilitated by terror elements with links to Pakistan’s intelligence agency. These drones are utilized to transport arms, cash, drugs, and other illicit items across the border. The Border Security Force oversees security along the 240-km international border in Jammu & Kashmir, focusing on countering various threats.
Apart from the military’s efforts, anti-terror operations are conducted by the J&K Police and security forces to combat terrorism and related criminal activities. The security apparatus also targets drug traffickers and individuals involved in illegal financial transactions, as these activities are believed to fund terrorist operations in the region.
