Mohammad Sohail, a resident of Gangoh in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, was apprehended in Karnataka by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for his suspected involvement in a conspiracy to target the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Sohail, who had been under surveillance for some time, was found to have connections with certain dubious organizations and individuals.
The arrest took place in the Davanagere region of Karnataka, where Sohail had been working incognito as a painter. Authorities discovered significant leads from his possessions and electronic devices, including photos of Sohail posing with weapons. These materials are currently undergoing forensic analysis to gather more evidence.
Investigations are delving into Sohail’s alleged ties to Pakistan and his potential engagement with online groups and social media platforms. The NIA received intelligence inputs that prompted the action against Sohail, suspected of being part of a larger network planning to target the Ram Mandir. However, a detailed inquiry is ongoing to explore all facets of the case thoroughly.
A parallel investigation has also commenced to scrutinize Sohail’s connections and activities in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Saharanpur and surrounding areas. Security agencies are working to uncover his network, associates, and financial transactions to ascertain the full scope of the alleged conspiracy.
