In response to the deaths of two MBA students due to a suspected drug overdose at a music concert in Mumbai’s Goregaon East, the police have apprehended another suspect, bringing the total arrests to six, which includes the event organizer and a suspected drug supplier. The tragic incident occurred during a music event on April 11, sparking concerns about drug use in public gatherings.
Around 15 to 16 students from a prominent Mumbai college reportedly attended the concert. Investigations revealed that one of the deceased students had consumed ecstasy pills on the way to the venue and later ingested another pill during the event, resulting in a fatal overdose. The medical authorities have confirmed the overdose after the student consumed two doses.
The second student’s death is also believed to be linked to drug consumption. Both deceased students were found to have taken drugs. Two students have been detained in connection with the case, along with the alleged drug supplier, who was found with 6 to 7 ecstasy pills. Three individuals associated with NESCO, including a Vice President from the event management team, were also arrested following further investigation.
Authorities mentioned that the drugs were likely procured from outside Mumbai. The police are actively investigating the drug’s origin and distribution network, aiming to identify other involved individuals. A video circulating on social media showing attendees dancing at the concert has garnered significant attention. The NESCO Centre has assured full cooperation with the authorities, emphasizing their commitment to assisting in the ongoing investigation to establish the facts promptly.
