The police in West Bengal’s Malda district have apprehended a suspect from Bihar in connection with the rape of a minor. This incident follows closely after a similar case in South 24 Parganas district. Prompt action was taken by the authorities, leading to the arrest of the accused individual in Purnia, Bihar, shortly after the incident was reported.
The victim, a severely ill minor girl, is receiving medical care at Malda Medical College and Hospital. The arrested individual, identified as Sheikh Rabiul, was presented before the Malda District Court and the police have requested seven days’ custody for further investigation.
Sheikh Rabiul allegedly lured the 12-year-old minor to his house while no one else was present and reportedly assaulted her. Subsequently, the minor became unwell, prompting her family to seek medical attention at Malda Medical College and Hospital. The police initiated legal proceedings based on the victim’s family’s complaint, causing a stir in the locality and necessitating a police presence.
Following the incident, the accused fled to Bihar, specifically to Purnia, to evade capture. However, law enforcement authorities managed to locate and apprehend him with the aid of technology. The accused was brought before the Malda District Court for further legal action. Malda Additional Superintendent of Police Maqsood Hasan assured that a swift trial process will be pursued to ensure justice in this case.
