The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested retired district judge Giribala Singh after a 15-day ordeal by Twisha Sharma’s family seeking justice for their daughter. Twisha Sharma, 33, was found dead at her home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills, raising suspicions of dowry harassment due to her recent marriage. Allegations of evidence tampering and institutional influence misuse surfaced following her death.
The first postmortem attributed Twisha’s death to “asphyxia due to ante-mortem hanging by ligature.” However, controversy arose over the gym rope allegedly used not being presented during the autopsy. Twisha’s family’s request for a second postmortem was initially denied by a Bhopal court. The case took a turn when an FIR was filed under domestic violence, matrimonial cruelty, and dowry death provisions.
As the investigation progressed, Twisha’s family escalated their demand for justice, staging protests and seeking court interventions. The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second autopsy to dispel doubts. The CBI officially took over the case and arrested Samarth Singh, Twisha’s husband, with allegations of evidence tampering. Giribala Singh was also arrested following a detailed inspection of her residence.
Twisha’s father welcomed the arrests, hoping for justice and the revelation of the truth behind his daughter’s death through the CBI investigation.
