Hours after the Board of Control for Cricket in India implemented stricter guidelines for IPL teams and players, Arshdeep Singh has been cautioned by the board to cease his behind-the-scenes vlogging. This warning follows a situation involving his teammate Yuzvendra Chahal. According to reports, the BCCI instructed the Punjab Kings bowler to halt his vlogging activities after a video allegedly captured Chahal vaping during a team flight to Hyderabad.
The controversy emerged when snippets from Arshdeep’s vlog circulated widely on social media. These clips appeared to show Chahal concealing something under his hand before mimicking a vaping action, with a small puff of smoke visible in the video. Although the original footage on Arshdeep’s YouTube channel reportedly contained the entire sequence, it has since been edited. Nevertheless, the clip had already spread across online platforms.
Neither the BCCI nor Punjab Kings has issued an official statement regarding this incident. This marks the second vaping-related issue in this season’s IPL. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ captain, Riyan Parag, faced accusations of vaping in the dressing room during a match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. Vaping is prohibited in India, leading to Parag being fined 25 percent of his match fee and receiving a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
The BCCI distributed an eight-page directive to all 10 IPL franchises earlier in the day. This directive, prompted by concerns raised by the board’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU), outlined new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). It cautioned franchises and players about enhanced compliance measures and surprise inspections to safeguard the league’s integrity and security.
