Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced the strengthening of the Creative Economy Cell within the Chief Minister’s Office. This move aims to provide institutional support for the state’s growing creative sector. The cell will act as a link between local talent and the global industry by facilitating industry connections, mentorship opportunities, and career pathways.
In a significant step towards formalizing the state’s creative sector, Khandu led a high-level review meeting with organizers of key state events. The Chief Minister outlined a vision to transform individual competitions into a structured talent pipeline. This transformation is geared towards enabling the youth of the state to transition from local stages to sustainable professional careers in the global entertainment industry.
During the meeting, attention was focused on six flagship platforms, including Miss, Mr, and Mrs. Arunachal, Arunachal’s Got Talent, Arunachal Super Dance, and Arunachal Idol. Khandu stressed the importance of cultural events going beyond mere annual spectacles. He emphasized the need for each platform to offer clear pathways guiding participants towards professional opportunities in music, fashion, media, and performing arts.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s intention to collaborate with digital giants to amplify local voices and expand the industry. Strategic partnerships with global platforms like Spotify are being explored to support emerging singers in reaching wider audiences. Khandu expressed the desire for global engagement with and appreciation of indigenous music, art, and cultural expressions.
To ensure professionalism and long-term planning, the state government is finalizing a new five-year agreement with all six major event organizers. This agreement will formalize their association under the official state calendar of events. The meeting also addressed the need to bridge technical gaps within the state, with a focus on developing local expertise in sound engineering, lighting, and technical fields.
Khandu emphasized the growing significance of the creative economy as a key driver of growth in Arunachal Pradesh. The state is witnessing a transition where its youth and women are not just performers but also entrepreneurs, evolving from singers to composers and from models to fashion designers. This initiative falls under the Arunachal Pradesh Regulatory Board of State Events, overseen by Mallo Attu, to ensure the state’s continued progress in the national entertainment and Bollywood circuits.
