Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for prioritizing the principle of “Nation First” over power pursuits. Speaking at an orientation program for newly elected local representatives, Khandu highlighted the BJP’s focus on serving the nation and society above personal or party interests. He commended the party’s success in the recent Panchayat elections, noting a significant presence across the state.
Underscoring the significance of discipline and grassroots empowerment, Khandu stated that the orientation aimed to equip representatives with a clear understanding of party ideology and responsibilities. He announced upcoming training programs for Panchayati Raj representatives to further enhance their knowledge. Reflecting on Arunachal Pradesh’s democratic journey, Khandu noted the state’s progress since being formally established in 1972.
Khandu emphasized the transformative development in the state over the past decade, particularly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He stressed the importance of governance quality in driving efficient development and urged Panchayat representatives to strengthen democratic institutions at the grassroots level. Highlighting the role of empowered Gram Panchayats in national development, he encouraged a focus on village-level progress for overall growth.
The Chief Minister reminded elected representatives of their public role and the need for integrity and accountability. He assured autonomy for Panchayati Raj Institutions and emphasized the government’s support for decentralization. Khandu proposed closer coordination between party members and governance by integrating Panchayat representatives into party committees for effective scheme implementation. He called for active participation in public service and continuous learning to ensure the welfare of society’s marginalized sections.
