Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (retired) has expressed worry about the increasing prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases in the state, affecting people of all age groups. The Governor recently met with Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay, President of AIIMS Guwahati, to discuss healthcare challenges and opportunities in the region. They highlighted issues like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, stress-related disorders, and cardiovascular ailments impacting various age groups.

Stressing the significance of preventive healthcare, Lieutenant General Parnaik urged AIIMS Guwahati to conduct studies to identify region-specific causes and propose suitable remedies. Emphasizing a holistic healthcare approach, the Governor called for integrating advanced medical research and technologies into the state’s healthcare system. AIIMS Guwahati was encouraged to share healthcare innovations and best practices with Arunachal Pradesh’s health officials and medical institutions to enhance patient care.

Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay, also a Padma Shri awardee, assured full cooperation to strengthen healthcare collaboration with Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. He presented his book ‘Bharat Mein Sadak Durghatnayen’ to Governor Parnaik. AIIMS Guwahati, established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna in May 2017, plays a crucial role in healthcare development in the region.
