Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) met with State Home Minister Mama Natung to address the current law and order situation in the state, focusing on recent events at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).
During the meeting at Raj Bhavan, the Governor and Home Minister reviewed the overall law and order scenario in Arunachal Pradesh, specifically discussing the recent incident at NERIST near Itanagar. The Governor expressed deep concern over the incident at NERIST, emphasizing the need for educational institutions to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
Lt Gen Parnaik called for an impartial inquiry into the allegations of misconduct faced by the Director of NERIST, highlighting the importance of upholding principles like merit, integrity, and accountability in educational institutions. He stressed the significance of addressing any actions that undermine the credibility of educational establishments firmly and in accordance with the law.
The Home Minister assured the Governor of the state government’s commitment to investigating the matter thoroughly and taking appropriate action against those responsible. Natung reiterated the government’s dedication to maintaining law and order, safeguarding educational institutions, and ensuring a secure environment for students and staff in Arunachal Pradesh.
