Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) emphasized the similarities between Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim during his official visit to Sikkim. He highlighted the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage that both states possess. Both states boast vibrant ethnic cultures, unique traditions, and significant tourism potential.
Governor Parnaik praised Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang for the state’s achievement as the cleanest state in India. He commended Sikkim’s focus on cleanliness, environmental conservation, and civic responsibility, noting the public’s strong sense of discipline and ownership. The Governor also lauded the professionalism and people-friendly approach of the Sikkim Police, emphasizing the importance of a responsive policing system for public trust and safety.
The Governor expressed optimism about the cooperative relationship between the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, hoping for increased collaboration in sustainable tourism, environmental conservation, cultural exchanges, and capacity-building. Drawing from his experience as the former Commander of the 17 Mountain Division in Sikkim, he discussed evolving security dynamics in the region, particularly along the sensitive international borders shared by both states. He stressed the need for vigilance, coordination, and preparedness to address security challenges effectively.
