Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) highlighted the importance of research and academic involvement in bridging the urban-rural gap, supporting MSMEs, modernizing agriculture, and boosting border and rural economies. He stressed that thorough research can ensure that technological benefits reach even the most remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking at the 8th Convocation of the Himalayan University, the Governor praised the students as a source of pride for the state and the nation. He commended India’s progress from a technology consumer to a global innovator under initiatives like Digital India, Startup India, and Make in India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.) encouraged students to focus on research and innovation as key drivers of technological advancement. He applauded the university for its curriculum aligned with NEP-2020 and urged a greater emphasis on research, skills, employability, and practical learning. The Governor also emphasized the importance of discipline, punctuality, character, and a supportive academic environment while urging the institution to engage with society actively. He supported initiatives like village adoption, cleanliness campaigns, anti-drug programs, and efforts for women’s and children’s well-being. Highlighting advancements in various fields like artificial intelligence and renewable energy, the Governor urged ethical and responsible innovation guided by compassion. Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.) underscored education’s role in achieving the national vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, with Arunachal Pradesh contributing through research, innovation, and problem-solving. The Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, Prof. S. K. Nayak, delivered an encouraging address at the convocation, motivating the graduating students for their future. The Vice-Chancellor of Himalayan University, Prof. Prakash Divakaran, presented the university’s annual report, outlining its academic progress and future goals. The Governor awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals to outstanding students across various courses, with a total of 621 graduates, including PhD scholars, receiving their degrees.
