The Assam Rifles Director General, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, met with the Governor during the North Eastern Council plenary session in Shillong to discuss border management, security, and the welfare of border communities in Arunachal Pradesh. Lieutenant General Parnaik (Retd.) acknowledged the professionalism and relentless efforts of the Assam Rifles in ensuring national border security under challenging conditions.

The Governor praised the Assam Rifles for building strong relationships with local communities and contributing to the socio-economic development of remote regions through various programs. He emphasized the importance of constant vigilance and operational readiness in light of evolving security dynamics along the international border. Lieutenant General Parnaik (Retd.) highlighted the significance of timely completion of border fencing projects for national security and effective border management to prevent illegal activities across borders.

The Assam Rifles Director General assured the Governor of continued collaboration with the state administration and local communities to enhance border security while maintaining positive relations with the people.
