Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd) highlighted the importance of private educational institutions following infrastructure norms and maintaining facilities for a conducive learning environment. The Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC), Tsering Naksang, met with the Governor at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar. Governor Parnaik emphasized the need for strong academic regulation and advised the Commission to oversee admissions transparently and based on merit.
He urged the Commission to ensure examinations and research standards are monitored closely to uphold the credibility and academic integrity of institutions. Lt. Gen. Parnaik (Retd) stressed the necessity for private institutions to adhere to infrastructure norms and sustain essential facilities for effective learning. The Governor recommended enforcing quality control in line with University Grants Commission guidelines and State Government regulations to maintain academic excellence.
Governor Parnaik emphasized the importance of the Commission regularly reviewing institutional functioning, ensuring compliance with regulatory norms, and holding institutions accountable for providing quality education. He mentioned the need for the Commission to take corrective actions, including suspending approvals or closing institutions that consistently fail to meet national benchmarks and academic standards. Such oversight, he believed, was vital for shaping the future of higher education in the State and ensuring students receive credible, competitive education aligned with national expectations.
Members of APPEIRC briefed the Governor on pending departmental matters requiring urgent attention. The Governor assured them that the raised issues would be addressed with the relevant authorities for timely resolution. The Chairman, along with members Limo Ete and Joram Aniya, and the Secretary, A.K. Tripathy, updated the Governor on the Commission’s activities and initiatives.
Meanwhile, Governor Parnaik expressed condolences on the passing of former MLA Talong Taggu, recognizing Taggu as a key figure in shaping the early democratic foundations of Arunachal Pradesh. He extended heartfelt condolences to Taggu’s family and joined the people of Arunachal Pradesh in mourning the loss, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.
