Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has advised the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal to take decisive steps to address illegal migration, emphasizing its impact on social harmony and internal security. The DGP, who assumed office recently, outlined plans to enhance peace, public safety, and law and order in the state to the Governor.
Governor Parnaik highlighted the need for concerted efforts to combat drug-related issues, especially in safeguarding the youth from substance abuse. Special attention was directed towards specific districts to ensure security and build trust through visible policing and community engagement.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the police in citizen interactions, Governor Parnaik stressed the importance of discipline, leadership, and professionalism within the force. He called for a people-centric approach to policing that is compassionate and fair, while also prioritizing the well-being and working conditions of police personnel.
The Governor urged the DGP to optimize manpower and resources for effective law enforcement and recommended the use of modern technology, such as digital surveillance and data-driven policing, to enhance efficiency. He emphasized that technology, coupled with ethical practices and community cooperation, can bolster law enforcement efforts significantly.
DGP Jamwal assured the Governor of his commitment to realizing these objectives, aiming to establish a crime-free state and a police force that is citizen-friendly and dedicated to upholding integrity and empathy.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended best wishes to DGP Jamwal during a courtesy visit, emphasizing the shared responsibility of ensuring peace, safety, and a responsive policing system. The Chief Minister expressed confidence in Jamwal’s experience and professionalism in enhancing the state’s law and order framework.
DGP Jamwal also met with the state Home Minister Mama Natung, who welcomed him and expressed a commitment to strengthening professional policing, efficient service delivery, and public trust. The Ministry of Home Affairs had recently appointed S.D. Singh Jamwal as the new DGP of Arunachal Pradesh, succeeding Anand Mohan, both from the AGMUT cadre.
