Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has called on tour operators to actively support sustainable and responsible tourism in the state. During a meeting with representatives of tourism associations, he stressed the importance of community involvement and adventure tourism. Emphasizing the significance of sustainable practices, the Governor highlighted the role of tour operators in enhancing visitors’ experiences and protecting the environment.
Tour operators were encouraged to focus on promoting homestays and village tourism to benefit local communities directly. The Governor outlined the state government’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector while preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s natural and cultural heritage. He also pointed out the state’s potential for various adventure activities like trekking, mountaineering, and wildlife tourism.
In a bid to boost tourism and create employment opportunities, Lt Gen Parnaik (Retd.) underscored the need for capacity building and skill development within the tourism industry. He recommended that tour operator organizations conduct regular training programs for guides, drivers, and hospitality workers to enhance service standards. Additionally, he suggested collaboration with government agencies for digital marketing and participation in travel fairs to attract a wider audience.
