Arunachal Pradesh Cultural Affairs Minister Dasanglu Pul highlighted the potential of women-led rural tourism in fostering cultural exchange and sustainable development. She praised the initiative connecting Buddhist centers in Northeast India with countries like Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka through this model.
At a workshop in Tawang on developing the Buddhist Circuit in Northeast India, delegates from various regions discussed enhancing regional cooperation and sustainable tourism rooted in a shared Buddhist heritage. Pul emphasized the tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh, known for spiritual and cultural destinations like Tawang and Mechukha.
Pul noted the significant role of women in rural communities in preserving traditions, handicrafts, and indigenous culture. Engaging them in tourism can not only safeguard cultural heritage but also create livelihood opportunities and boost local economies. The state government is dedicated to supporting working women through skill development programs and other initiatives.
Stressing the importance of strengthening ties with neighboring Buddhist nations, Pul highlighted the benefits of enhancing tourism and cultural linkages for international tourism and regional connectivity. The workshop included discussions on regional cooperation, branding, and the role of women-led rural tourism in promoting inclusive development.
