Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP Convener, expressed dissatisfaction with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate the reported theft at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, labeling it as merely a facade due to the absence of an FIR in the case. Kejriwal, who arrived in Ayodhya, plans to visit the Ram Temple on Friday. He highlighted media reports alleging the theft of various items, including Lord Ram’s belongings and significant sums of money.
The AAP Chief expressed distress over the situation, emphasizing the sentiments of millions of devotees affected by the reported theft. Kejriwal announced his intention to visit the Ram Temple and Hanumangarhi to offer prayers and meet with seers. He criticized the lack of an FIR despite the substantial amount allegedly stolen, questioning the legitimacy of forming an SIT without prior legal procedures.
Kejriwal underscored the necessity of filing an FIR before constituting an SIT, citing the CrPC guidelines. He raised doubts about the SIT’s authority and motives, alleging that it was established to shield influential figures rather than conduct a genuine investigation. The AAP Convener accused the SIT of targeting workers and insinuated that the theft could not have occurred without the involvement of powerful individuals.
Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) President Alok Kumar also weighed in on the controversy, advocating for an immediate FIR registration in the Ram Mandir donation pilfering case. Kumar echoed the sentiment that diverting offerings from Lord Ram’s temple constitutes a betrayal of the Hindu community’s faith.
