Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, responded to criticism over the conviction of former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain in the 2020 Delhi riots case by clarifying that Hussain had been expelled from the party long ago. Kejriwal, addressing the issue on social media, highlighted the party’s prior action against Hussain.
The BJP has been vocal in questioning AAP leaders’ silence following Hussain’s conviction for the murder of an Intelligence Bureau officer during the Delhi riots. Delhi Law Minister Kapil Mishra also raised concerns about the AAP leadership’s response to the situation.
Tahir Hussain, along with four others, was recently found guilty on various charges related to the riots, including murder and promoting enmity. The BJP has intensified its criticism, alleging that Hussain was a favored figure within the AAP leadership.
