Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has informed Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court that he will not personally appear or be represented by legal counsel in the Delhi Excise Policy case proceedings. Kejriwal expressed a lack of faith in the judge’s ability to deliver justice and cited Mahatma Gandhi’s “Satyagraha” as his chosen path.
Kejriwal’s decision, based on his conscience, stems from his belief that Justice Sharma cannot provide him with a fair outcome. He emphasized his intention to challenge any rulings in the Supreme Court, as mentioned in his letter to the court.
The recent development follows Justice Sharma’s rejection of Kejriwal’s request for her recusal from matters related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy case. The judge, in her ruling on April 20, highlighted the importance of upholding institutional integrity and addressing not just legal disputes but also safeguarding the credibility of the judiciary.
