Former Uttarakhand High Court judge, Justice Lokpal Singh, criticized Arvind Kejriwal for refusing legal representation in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Kejriwal expressed distrust in Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma and opted for “Satyagraha” following her decision. He reserved the right to challenge any rulings in the Supreme Court.

Kejriwal’s stance emerged after Justice Sharma dismissed his plea for her recusal from the case. Justice Lokpal Singh deemed Kejriwal’s actions as contemptuous towards the court. Singh highlighted that challenging a judge’s decision is acceptable, but writing such letters is not a procedural norm.

Singh labeled Kejriwal’s behavior as immature, noting his initial entry into politics on principles. He cautioned against baseless allegations, emphasizing the importance of presenting arguments in court. Singh stressed the need for Kejriwal to engage in the legal process rather than pre-emptively criticizing the judge.
