AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi recently met Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju to request the issuance of Permanent Residence Certificates (PRC) or Family Register Certificates to state electors during the ongoing SIR in Telangana. Owaisi emphasized that providing these certificates would greatly benefit the underprivileged residents of Telangana by ensuring their inclusion in the Final SIR list, thus avoiding potential difficulties and inconveniences. He highlighted that the Karnataka government is already issuing PRC certificates under the Karnataka Sakala Services Act 2011.
Owaisi pointed out that Telangana possesses various authentic databases, such as the Samagra Kutumba Survey, Socio Economic & Caste Survey of 2024 and 2025, BHU Bharati Act 2025, Food Security Card database, Municipal Tax records, and School & Board records. He expressed hope for a positive decision that would serve the best interests of the disadvantaged communities in Telangana, including minorities, BCs, SCs, and STs. Previously, on July 6, Owaisi had urged the state government to promptly issue PRCs to prevent the exclusion of the less privileged from the voter list during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision.
The Hyderabad MP questioned the delay in issuing PRCs, emphasizing the importance of addressing the documentation challenges faced by the poor in Telangana. He urged the ruling Congress party to take proactive measures rather than reacting after the voter list publication. Owaisi stressed the necessity of PRCs as a solution to potential exclusion issues and disclosed his efforts to discuss this matter with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Additionally, he expressed his intention to meet with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, acknowledging the Chief Minister’s busy schedule.
