Veteran star Asha Parekh surprised everyone on Indian Idol by sharing an interesting anecdote about legendary actor Rajesh Khanna. After a contestant’s performance of Khanna’s song, Parekh revealed how the iconic term “Babu Moshai” became associated with him.
She explained that the term “Babu Moshai” was actually a Bengali word and that Raj Kapoor used to call Hrishikesh Mukherjee by the same name. This is why Mukherjee gave the term to Rajesh Khanna, and whenever he said it, all the girls would swoon.
The iconic word “Babu Moshai” was a part of the cult classic movie “Anand,” directed by Rishikesh Mukherjee and starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Even after five decades, the film is still revered for its emotional storyline.
Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood’s first superstar, was known for his roles in blockbuster movies like “Haathi Mera Saathi,” “Amar Prem,” and “Aradhana.”
