Ashmita Chaliha secured a spot in the women’s singles semifinals at the Macau Open BWF World Tour Super 300 by defeating Korea’s Kim Min Sun 21-16, 21-18 in just 37 minutes. She will now face Park Ga Eun in the last four after a convincing victory.
In a closely contested first game, Ashmita surged ahead with four consecutive points after a tie at 14-14, maintaining her lead throughout. The second game saw Kim initially leading 11-5, but Ashmita rallied back, winning five straight points from 16-18 to seal the match.
Having recently returned to competition following a knee injury, the 26-year-old Indian has shown remarkable form, reaching the semifinals after strong performances in previous tournaments. Ranked 63rd globally, Chaliha underwent surgery and rehabilitation after a meniscus tear at the Korea Open.
Meanwhile, Anmol Kharb’s journey at the tournament concluded as she lost to Han Qian Xi in a hard-fought quarterfinal match. Despite a strong start, Kharb couldn’t maintain her momentum, eventually falling 21-14, 15-21, 13-21 to the Chinese player, who advanced to the semifinals.
