The Asian Legends League’s second edition is set to enthrall cricket enthusiasts globally in Lusaka, Zambia, from July 30 to August 10, 2026. Building on the success of its inaugural season, this year’s league will showcase six competitive teams comprising legendary former international cricketers in an exciting T20 format.
Chetan Sharma, the League Commissioner, expressed that this season signifies a significant milestone in the Asian Legends League’s journey. While the league aims to celebrate Asian cricket, logistical challenges due to geopolitical tensions have led to hosting Season 2 in Zambia. However, plans are in place to bring future editions back to Asia.
Renowned Asian cricket personalities will lead the teams in the tournament. Notable figures include Yusuf Pathan for the Indian Royals, Thisara Perera for the Sri Lankan Lions, and Shakib Al Hasan for the Bangladesh Tigers, among others. The league will also feature star players like Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Hafeez, and Tillakaratne Dilshan.
The Asian Legends League will maintain its country-based franchise format, uniting legendary players from across Asia to honor the region’s cricketing history and intense rivalries. Referred to as the “Retired Players’ Asia Cup,” this event has gained global recognition as a top legends-cricket competition.
A significant development for Season 2 is the league’s three-season broadcast deal with Sony Sports Network, making it the official broadcaster of the Asian Legends League in India. The tournament will see six country-based franchises representing major cricketing nations across Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and a team comprising the Rest of Asian Stars.
