Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted that the state Cabinet’s expansion might occur in early June due to the upcoming Assembly session and his Delhi visit. The Assembly session is set to run from May 21 to May 26, followed by Sarma’s trip to the national capital for discussions with party leaders.
Sarma clarified that there was no pressure from BJP legislators seeking ministerial positions, dispelling rumors of internal lobbying. He emphasized the government’s focus on fulfilling electoral promises, such as the recruitment drive for two lakh government jobs and actions related to the Uniform Civil Code.
Stressing the government’s commitment to its manifesto, Sarma mentioned that the Cabinet had already started executing key pledges. He highlighted the significance of delivering on assurances to the public and ensuring the manifesto’s principles guide governance effectively.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya recently administered the oath of office to Himanta Biswa Sarma and four other ministers at a grand ceremony in Guwahati. The event, attended by top BJP and NDA leaders, marks Sarma’s second consecutive term as Chief Minister, further solidifying BJP’s political stronghold in Assam.
