Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the construction of a world-class museum in Guwahati to preserve the iconic Vrindavani Vastra, a sacred textile by medieval saint-scholar Srimanta Sankardev. Sarma emphasized the significance of this initiative in returning the priceless artifact to its place of origin, marking a pivotal moment in Assam’s heritage preservation efforts. He expressed gratitude to the JSW Foundation for facilitating the return of the Vrindavani Vastra and supporting the museum’s construction.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s dual focus on development and heritage, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice on these priorities. He underscored the importance of safeguarding cultural legacy, stating that the return of Gurujona’s creation signifies a crucial milestone in this endeavor. Sarma commended the JSW Foundation for its commitment to preserving Assam’s cultural heritage and enabling the people to witness the revered creation in their homeland after centuries.
