Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed satisfaction with the European Union (EU) member states’ move to update their travel advisories, removing restrictions for visitors to Assam. Sarma viewed this decision as a significant endorsement of the state’s improving security and rising global prominence. Sarma emphasized that the revised advisories reflect a growing international trust in Assam’s stability, governance, and development path. He anticipated that this change would boost tourism, attract more business investments, and promote cultural exchanges between Assam and European countries.
Following a visit by European diplomats to Assam for discussions on trade, investment, and cultural cooperation, the Chief Minister viewed this as a crucial step in expanding engagement between the state and the European bloc. Sarma also expressed appreciation to the European Union and its representatives for their role in facilitating this decision.
The Chief Minister has consistently highlighted Assam’s attractiveness for tourism and investments, citing advancements in infrastructure, connectivity, law enforcement, and economic progress. The recent adjustment in travel advisories by EU member states is expected to further elevate Assam’s appeal to international travelers and potential investors.
