Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that discussions on seat-sharing between the ruling BJP and ally AGP for the upcoming elections have been concluded. The proposal has been forwarded to the BJP’s central leadership for approval.
Sarma mentioned that the seat distribution agreement has been finalized at the state level and sent to Delhi for final approval. Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia is set to visit the national capital to discuss the arrangements with the party’s central leadership.
The Chief Minister disclosed that seat allocation discussions for the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have also been completed. The BPF will contest in 11 seats, while the BJP will field candidates in four constituencies in the region.
Sarma revealed that the BJP is in the final stages of candidate selection, with the party’s candidate list expected to be released soon. He expressed satisfaction with the response to the BJP’s ‘Jana Ashirwad Yatra’, highlighting the overwhelming public participation.
The BJP has been actively engaging with the public in Assam through the ‘Jana Ashirwad Yatra’, with senior leaders interacting with people across various districts in preparation for the upcoming elections.
