Terming the BJP-led NDA’s performance in Assam as a “historic mandate,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the people’s decision to allow the alliance to form the government for a third consecutive term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Following the BJP’s sweeping victory, CM Sarma expressed that the verdict showcases the electorate’s backing for efforts to protect Assam’s identity while advancing development. He highlighted the government’s consistent focus on governance, infrastructure, and socio-economic progress, which has garnered trust from various regions and communities.
“The people of Assam have once again shown their support. This mandate is for development, good governance, and safeguarding the state’s identity,” Sarma remarked, extending gratitude to voters on behalf of the party and its allies for their overwhelming support. He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for integrating Assam and the Northeast into the national mainstream, leading to new opportunities for growth, investment, and connectivity. Sarma emphasized that the development narrative has strongly resonated with the youth, who seek improved prospects and a secure future.
Reflecting on the victory’s magnitude, Chief Minister Sarma noted that the BJP’s performance aligns with their expectations, surpassing the 100-mark as predicted by party leaders. He pointed out that the BJP has independently secured a decisive majority this time, indicating a deeper acceptance among the electorate. Criticizing the opposition, Sarma stated that voters have dismissed divisive politics in favor of a governance model centered on performance and delivery. The outcome, he added, mirrors the public’s yearning for peace, stability, and consistent governance. Sarma reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises and ensuring inclusive development, underscoring that the mandate comes with responsibilities.
Assuring a focus on enhancing economic growth, bolstering infrastructure, and elevating social indicators across Assam in the upcoming term, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the government’s dedication to driving progress and inclusivity.
