Hours after the swearing-in of Assam’s expanded Council of Ministers, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that portfolios for the newly inducted ministers would be assigned following a thorough assessment of administrative needs and individual strengths. Sarma emphasized the importance of ensuring efficient governance outcomes through careful allocation of responsibilities.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the process of finalizing department allocations would involve evaluating the performance of previous ministers and identifying areas where the new ministers could make the most significant contributions. Sarma highlighted the need for a comprehensive review before the portfolios are officially announced.
While indicating a detailed evaluation process, Sarma assured that immediate responsibilities as district guardians would be assigned to ministers in light of the ongoing flood situation in parts of the state. He stated that these roles would enable ministers to assess ground realities, coordinate with local authorities, and ensure effective management of the flood crisis.
In response to the recent induction of 12 Cabinet ministers, the Chief Minister confirmed that guardian minister responsibilities would be allocated promptly to facilitate on-ground assessments and coordination with district administrations. Sarma’s approach aims to enhance the government’s responsiveness and effectiveness in addressing the emerging challenges.
